“Our ability to reach unity in diversity will be the beauty and the test of our civilization.”
-Mahatma Gandhi

The evening of February 04 became memorable for the B.I.T. Sindri campus students as they got to meet and interact with the visiting students from the most picturesque states of our country in the North East. The motto “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat” served as the foundation for the “Student Cultural Exchange Program”. The Director of B.I.T. Sindri, Dr. D.K. Singh presented a memento to the program coordinator, Shri Bipul Rabha followed by the guest students receiving the memento.

Following this, Dr. Ghanshyam Rai delivered the opening speech by firstly giving everyone a warm welcome, especially the guests in the audience. He continued by introducing the audience to our rich and diverse history. Emphasizing the value of nationality, he urged the crowd to explore the beauty of northeastern states. He further highlighted the worth of engagement in creating a sense of brotherhood among the countrymen. With the beautiful song “Hai preet jahan ki reet sada”, Dr. Ghanshyam concluded his speech.

Shri Bipul Rabha then came to the podium to deliver his speech. He enlightened the audience about the organization of SEIL (Student Experience in Inter-state Living). He exposed the audience to the sufferings that the people of the northeastern region endured in the years following the Indo-China War of 1962. More than 500 students from the north-east are reportedly discovering the nation with the aid of SEIL, according to him.

Prof. Raju Ranjan then gave a short yet crisp speech praising Meghalaya for its take on women empowerment and hoped that these types of interactions will boost the growth of nationalism. Further, Dr. Krishna Murari came on stage to deliver the message of “Anekta mein ekta”. Dr. Murari conveyed the importance of Unity in Diversity to the audience.

Following that, Dr. D.K. Singh, Director of B.I.T. Sindri, spoke and astounded the crowd by outlining the institution’s long-standing ties to students in the Northeast. He informed them that the students from Northeast assisted in establishing its Arts Club of B.I.T. Sindri. He discussed the cultural parallels between the Northeastern states and Jharkhand. He expressed his hope that the program will help the students from the various regions get to know one another as he closed his address. Eminent faculty members of the institution, Prof. Pankaj Rai, Prof. R. K. Verma, Prof. Maya Rajnarayan Ray, and Prof. Nirmala Soren were also present in the program.

All the coordinators were invited for a group photograph with the guests. Then all headed to Deshpande Auditorium for the cultural event organized by the Arts Club. Cultural diversity adorns our nation in the same way that a plate of good cuisine is made up of a variety of wonderful dishes.
