The future of the human race lies in the Information industry and cutting edge technologies like computer vision and artificial intelligence are bound to rule the way our race progresses. In light of these developments, BIT Sindri conducted its first version of hackathon on a national level, “HACKATRON ’19”, on November 16-17 in the college campus. The 24 hour-long continuous event focused on the solutions and ideas for resolving many real-life problems. Despite being the first iteration of itself, Hackatron witnessed huge participation from various colleges in India. Over 70+ teams registered for the event where the 18 best ideas were selected. The teams were invited to the campus for the 24 Hour code-fest. The finale of the event was attended by 6 teams from N.I.T. Jamshedpur, 2 teams from I.I.I.T. Kalyani, 2 teams from B.I.T. Mesra, 1 team from B.I.T. Durg, and 7 teams from B.I.T. Sindri.
The event was inaugurated in A-27, Administration Building, in presence of Mr. S. N. Sharma (VC and US-Based Entrepreneur), Mr. Anindya Kumar (VP, JSL), Dr. D. K. Singh (Director BIT Sindri), Dr. U. Prasad(PC, TEQIP), Prof. S. C. Dutta, Prof. Dinesh Kr. Prabhakar (Prof-In-Charge, HnCC), Mr. Gaurav Singh (Co-Founder, Perfectice), Mr. Ravi Singh Choudhary(Director, Sampurn Krishi Utthaan Foundation ), Mr. S. N. Sahu (Dept. of IT) and other dignitaries.

The mood was set. With the environment loaded up and fingers revving on the keyboard, the teams started working on their ideas from noon of 16th November. Based on their ideas and deployment, the teams were judged in two phases. The first round of judgment was conducted in the evening of 16th November by the jury comprising of Mr. Gaurav Singh, Mr. Ravi Singh Choudhary and Mr. Saurav Karmakar (Founder, iB Arts Pvt. Ltd). After the jury’s analysis, the teams worked continuously all night to develop their applications. The organizing team of HnCC(Hackathon and Coding Club) took care of all the nourishment & necessities for the participants during the 24-hour event, from a seamless supply of beverages to rejuvenating guitar performances. The passion to code and develop could be seen in everyone’s eyes.
The second round of judgment was conducted in the morning of 17th November. The jury in the second round of judgment comprised of Dr. Joydeep Chandra (Department of C.S.E, I.I.T. Patna), Mr. Gaurav Singh and Mr. Ravi Singh Choudhary.
After the final evaluation of the teams by the judges, the time was for the declaration of the winners.
The prize distribution ceremony was conducted in the A-27 hall in the presence of the Director, B.I.T. Sindri and other dignitaries. The team “Still-In-Beta” (N.I.T. Jamshepur) comprising of Vivek Sharma, Abhinav Kinshuk, Piyush Raj and Niraj Oswal, was declared as the winner of the HACKATRON and they were rewarded with Rs 25,000.
The event concluded with a speech by the president of the HnCC club, Mr. Kumar Neeraj.
