Life’s battles don’t always go to the stronger or faster men;
But sooner or later the man who wins is the man who thinks he can

‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’. Indeed, sports play a pivotal role in our lives. But action speaks louder than words. To realize this idea, the Sports Club of BIT Sindri organized the most awaited annual sports extravaganza, the inter-branch Football tournament and inter-branch Kho Kho tournament for the techie lads and lasses.
The club ground being the swathe, witnessed the thronging of students from multiple disciplines with brimming spirits cheering, roistering and hooting for their respective branches.

The 5-day fiesta started on 19th October. There were four groups:
Group A – Chemical, M. Tech, Metal
Group B – Electrical, ECE, IT
Group C – Mechanical, Production, Mining
Group D – Civil, CSE

The tournament started with initial playoffs between Chemical and Metallurgy branches which were followed by Mechanical vs. Production, Electrical vs. IT and Civil vs. CSE on Day 1. Later, the top 8 teams on the scorecard paved their way to the quarterfinals. Every team tried their level best to get upon the nerves of the opposing teams but only four teams i.e. Explosive Chemical, Mighty Mechanical, Royal Civil and Lustrous Metal could make it to semi-finals. Lastly, the two finalists Mighty Mechanical and the Lustrous Metal caught the Achilles heel of remaining two and entered into finals.

This tournament was reminiscent of FIFA 2018. The spectacular goal shots from emerging players, the sleek elegant swings and sways of the defender, the suave in their audacity, the tough resistance by the goalkeepers and the swift run to chase the ball were some glimpses worth cherishing.

It proved that ‘Attack is the best form of defense’.
The final match was scheduled on 23rd October as per the fixture but due to blustery weather conditions, it was postponed.
The twilight of 18th November, a day after the end of the thrilling cultural fiesta, ‘Sharad-Utsav 2019, was chosen for the clash between the Mighty Mechanical and the Lustrous Metal.

The legacy continued. The Mighty under the captaincy of Mr Sameer Soren left no stone unturned to retain their past glory. The opponents gave a tough competition and the match could have been a tie but the last goal shoved by the captain himself left the antagonist Metal flummoxed. And thus, Mighty Mechanical won the match by 1-0.
At the end of the day, Sagar Kumar Rajak (Metallurgy, 2018) was awarded as the player of the tournament, Sunil Toppo (Mechanical, 2019) as the emerging player, Amit Soren (Metallurgy, 2015) as the best defender and Nishant Kumar (IT, 2017) as the best goalkeeper.
Life is like a kho kho game. Moving around in a circle, without knowing when someone might attack you”.

Here the duo of Incredible and Charismatic defeated the Electrifying Electricals with a score of 18-14. Saroj Panna (IT, 2019) was awarded as the best runner and Prity Kisku (Electrical, 2019) for being the best chaser.
With the prize distribution ceremony, the event came to its end.

This event could not have been a successful one without the contribution and cooperation of Professor In-charge Mr RK Verma, Prof Arvind Kumar, Prof Ghanshyam Kumar, Mr. MK Bhagat, Mr NP Chaudhary, Mr JN Mahto, Mr. Jagveer Verma, Mr Anish Rajak. The President of Sports Club, Mr Sameer Kumar Soren and members of the Sports Club are to be congratulated for organizing this successful event.

Every defeat is a victory in itself’.
To capitulate the failure and work upon it is the true spirit of a sportsperson. Success and failure are modus vivendi. Sports inculcate something in us that no institution, family or friendship can-A quality that eventually emanates from us called sportsmanship.

  1. Reading here is like reliving, still ECE(girls) is struggling to make an independent team and legacy of mighty rulers continued, everything seems so same but it’s hard to believe that electrical girls got defeated. CG, a place where a lot more to be learnt from, lessons that can prepare one for life off the field.
