The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), Student’s Chapter of B.I.T. Sindri organized an event on the occasion of ‘World Telecommunication and Information Society Day’. The event was based on the theme of ‘Empowering the least developed countries through information and communication technologies’. The event was graced with the presence of esteemed guests, including Prof. (Dr.) D. K. Singh, Director, B.I.T. Sindri; Prof. M. G. Tiary, Head of the Department (Electronics and Communication Engineering); and Prof. Imteyaz Ahmed, Professor-In-Charge.

The event started with an introduction to the topic by IETE members. They introduced the audience to the events and expressed their joy as this day holds a special place for the club, considering their work in the field. They informed the listeners about various domains in telecommunication and spoke on various topics like ‘5G over 4G’, ‘network management’, and ‘rules used in the field of Telecommunication’. The students expressed their views and actively participated in the event, drawing the attention of the audience.

Prof. (Dr.) D. K. Singh, Director, B.I.T. Sindri, enlightened the listeners on the importance of the day. His speech revolved around the theme of the event, and he provided information about the efforts that the B.I.T Sindri institution is making in the field of Telecommunication.

The stage then witnessed Prof. Imteyaz Ahmed, Professor-In-Charge, who started his speech by explaining in detail about the event and detailing the listeners about the problems that underdeveloped countries encounter in the field of Telecommunication. He explained the solutions to these problems and hoped for improvement in this sector.

Prof. M. G. Tiary, Head of the Department (Electronics and Communication Engineering), then explained the new 5G network and spoke about the contributions in the field of ‘6G internet’ that the institute is making through its innovative labs under the ECE department. His speech was crisp and filled with technical knowledge, which focused on the nuances of Telecommunication.

The day then concluded with the photo session, and the guests present applauded the members of the technical society for successfully organizing the event and hoped that the society would continue to organize similar events in the future.
