A team of four final-year students from BIT Sindri demonstrated exceptional talent at the Innovation Expo 2024 on April 20th,2024. The team comprised Ritesh Kumar, Priyanshu Malviya, Tej Prakash Singh, and Tanvir Ansari, all from the Electronics and Communication (ECE) department, who developed an outstanding electric cycle for disabled persons that completely works on renewable energy sources. Their project was awarded second prize out of the 30 projects that participated in the event.

With the invaluable guidance of Professor Aditya Kumar and the contribution of Shivanand Modi, a third-year student, the team crafted a cycle that runs at a speed of 25 km per hour and has a 25 V battery capable of traveling up to 30 km on a full charge. The cycle is equipped with a 250 W motor and uses solar and dynamo to charge the battery. It also boasts a unique password system that prevents theft and provides mobile charging facilities.

The Head of the ECE department, Dr. M.G. Tiyari, and the project coordinator Dr. Praveen Kumar Sahu provided unwavering support to the students in every aspect. This project has a significant social cause, and the students plan to make slight improvements and inclusions to make the cycle more widely used.

The team’s exceptional talent and hard work have proven that they are capable of developing innovative solutions that fulfill critical social needs. This news brings light to the potential that the students of B.I.T. Sindri possess and gives way for future graduates to design projects that can be helpful to needy people.
