FOYC ’23 at B.I.T. Sindri unfolded with enthusiasm as Roshni Singh and Srishant Shil Raj, anchors from the batch of 2022, steered the event with charisma. The ceremonial lamp was lit by distinguished guests, including Prof.(Dr.) Pankaj Rai, Director of B.I.T. Sindri, Prof. (Dr.) Ghanshyam, Chairman, CDC, Prof.(Dr.) B.N. Roy, Dean(Student Welfare), Prof. (Dr.) R.K. Verma, General Warden, Prof. S.C. Dutta, Head of the Department, Department of Computer Science Engineering and Department of Information Technology, Dr. Amar Kumar, Professor In-charge of Leo Club, and other esteemed guests. Prof. (Dr.) Pankaj Rai, Director of B.I.T. Sindri, set the tone with a jovial address, highlighting the importance of FOYC in developing leadership qualities among first-year students. Dr. Amar Kumar, Professor In-charge of Leo Club, shared insights into the Leo Club of B.I.T. Sindri, the event’s organiser, and expressed condolences for a member who recently passed away due to a fatal accident.

The evening featured diverse competitions, beginning with “Visulla Di Illuminati” hosted by Aniket Kumar. A quiz challenged participants with questions related to web series and paintings. The event transitioned to “ABCD”, a high-energy dance competition where students from various engineering branches showcased their talents in a condensed time frame. The drama competition, “Silver Screen”, hosted by Priyanshu Kumar, centered around movies and Bollywood, featuring compelling performances from students across engineering disciplines.

Day 2 mirrored Day 1, with additional competitions like the Karaoke singing contest. The top 5 finalists, Akshat Pratap (Electrical Engineering), Abhilash Kumar (CSE), Sahil Pandey (Production and Industrial Engineering), Abhishek Suri (ECE) and Shruti Pandey (Mechanical Engineering) competed in the Magnum Opus Event, answering questions posed by the student panel and professors about their experiences in B.I.T. Sindri and potential solutions to existing challenges.

In the culmination, Shruti Pandey emerged as the winner of FOYC ’23, with other finalists receiving runner-up honors. Roshni Singh and Srishant Shil Raj returned to conclude the event, followed by a vote of thanks from Rashmita Soren. Prof. (Dr.) Pankaj Rai, Director of B.I.T. Sindri, shared an inspiring note, highlighting the significance of FOYC and other upcoming events, especially as B.I.T. Sindri approaches its Platinum Jubilee celebration. The event concluded on a high note, marking a successful and vibrant second day of FOYC ’23.
