In a magnificent occasion held on 26-11-2023, steeped in both nostalgia and accomplishment, the 75th anniversary of BIT Sindri unfolded. The assembly bore witness to luminaries from academia, the alumni association, and distinguished former students whose lasting impact on the institution remains undeniable. The ceremonial lamp, a symbol of the enlightening journey of knowledge, was ignited by esteemed guests, including Prof. (Dr.) D. K. Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Jharkhand University of Technology and Mr. Amit Roy, President of BITSAA. Renowned professors like Prof. Pankaj Rai, Director, BIT Sindri, Dr. Ghanshyam, Chairman, CDC, Prof. R. K. Verma, HOD Physics and General Warden, Prof. Upendra Prasad, Prof. Aryan Gupta, Prof. Jeetu Kundu, and Prof. B. D. Yadav joined the alumni in adorning the occasion.
The event commenced with Saraswati Vandana and the rendition of Kulgeet of BIT by the Arts Club of BIT Sindri, setting a spirited tone for the event. Mr. U.P. Sah, Secretary, BITSAA, delivered a warm welcome speech, acknowledging the contributions of predecessors and expressing gratitude for the accomplishments of alumni in the institution’s rich history.
Following this, Prof. Prakash Kumar, Dean of Alumni Affairs, addressed the audience, emphasizing BIT’s continuous efforts in pushing boundaries in achievements and innovation. He expressed gratitude to BITSAA for unwavering support, highlighting the alumni association’s commitment to the institution’s betterment through contributions, innovations, and donations.
Mr. Amit Roy, President, BITSAA, then expressed joy for the celebration and acknowledged the contributions of Prof. (Dr.) D.K. Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Jharkand University of Technology, his batchmate, to the institution. Prof. Rajeev Murmu, Treasurer, discussed BITSAA’s finances and expenses, announced scholarships, and recognized the altruistic initiatives of alumni chapters, particularly the Jamshedpur Chapter of BITSAA for “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” scholarships.
Next on the podium, Prof. Pankaj Rai, Director, BIT Sindri, welcomed alumni as the institution’s ambassadors, announcing a lecture series by alumni for student guidance. He shared plans for international conferences in 2024-25, thanking alumni for monetary help and urging them to offer guidance and mentorship to students
The chief guest of the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) D. K. Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Jharkhand University of Technology expressed gratitude to the State Government of Jharkhand, BIT Sindri North America Alumni Association, and Ranchi chapter of BITSAA for their unwavering support and generous contributions. He unveiled plans for a R&D center, urging alumni to aid in campus renovation. The event concluded with the distribution of “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” scholarships to the students by esteemed alumni and a heartfelt ‘Vote of Thanks’ by Prof. R. K. Verma, General Warden.
The celebration not only marked the institution’s splendid 75 years but also reinforced the enduring bond between BIT Sindri and its illustrious alumni, who continue to shape the future of the institution and society at large.
